The songs, paintings and animations of Rietveld Academy student Dax Niesten together form a world that is expressionistic, psychedelic and colorful, in which the creation of fabulous creatures merges with personal experiences and childhood memories.
Dax Niesten, musician, songwriter and artist from The Hague, released her first album My Bubbles Is Kind Of A Mess in 2018. Her music can be described as lo-fi indie folk. They are children’s songs with lots of whispering vocals and fragile guitar strums that translate into sinister fables that reflect the artist’s own imagination. Her lyrics are autobiographical and express her idiosyncratic views on a variety of subjects, from environmental issues to loneliness.
