This avant-pop band takes you on a trip!
Sergeant is the avant-pop band of composing film-maker Benjamin Cools and searching-singing actor Ferre Marnef. For a long time they only burst out live, but now they have gathered their sampled selves from the abyss of pop music. The songs on the record sound like a ‘date gone wrong’ between post-punk and krautrock, but also like the kind of indie rock that Warp thought was cool for a while in the 2000s. Via the Paris of the 1970s (Gainsbourg!), the industrial Ruhr area, they take you on a trip that is full of Dadaist collages and abstract punk.
