Poetic, absurdist movement theatre
4 Turkish and 4 Dutch actors enter into an exploratory dialogue with their national identity. What does it mean to be Turkish / Dutch and where do you actually belong?
Alsof je thuis bent (As if you are at home) is a visual, poetic performance. An intercultural ode to our national identity. The kaleidoscopic gaze of director Ilgin Abeln, nourished by her Turkish-Dutch background, forms the basis of the performance. An autobiographical starting point that raises universal questions about the own and the strange. Absurd, complex and disarming.
About the maker
De Stal van Dingo is an internationally operating location theater company, with roots in the Netherlands. Together with Lenne Koning, Ilgin Abeln has been researching the subjects of nationalism and migration for years, always with a different approach. They translate it into absurd situations that are associatively recognizable. Feel-good location theater that puts you on the wrong track and ends in painful seriousness. Over the years, they have developed a recognizable signature and visual language of their own.
