Face to face, two strange silhouettes observe each other. With their heads encased in black cubes, they draw with chalk a starry sky, a black and white city, a colorful bird, or faces with multiple emotions. Between masked play and theater of objects, a whole story is sketched out, guessed, and sometimes erased, only to reinvent itself better.

What is the power of non-verbal language? The performers wear black boxes and dress them up with lines and expressions. This principle of masked play gives them the opportunity to draw a palette of portraits using chalk drawings, added materials, magnetised drawings, changes of scale, anamorphoses and other principles of illustration and illusion. There are also cameras obscura, projectors of images, then become real ‘rostrum camera’ of animated cinema, where the material comes to life frame by frame.

Justine Macadoux creator/interpreter

After training in sculpture in the applied arts (Olivier de Serres, Paris), Justine Macadoux turned to puppetry through clowning and mime. She trained at ESNAM in Charleville Mézières (8th class). Since then, she has worked as a performer (with Jean-Pierre Larroche, Alice Laloy, Renaud Herbin, Claire Dancoisne) and also with the Mazette! collective (Alice Laloy, Sylvain Maurice and Simon Delattre).

Coralie Maniez creator/interpreter

Coralie Maniez joined the theatre by taking various courses in masks, puppetry and set design. Since 2008, she has worked as a painter and sculptor in the set design workshops at the MC93 in Bobigny (for the Peking Opera, the magician Abdul Alafrez and the violinist Amy Flammer). She builds puppets and props (for Cie Philippe Genty, Cie Bouche à Bouche, Mazette! collective) and also works as a puppeteer (with Cécile Vitrant, Alan Payon, Ghislaine Laglantine).

Antoine Aubry
creator and sound designer / stage manager

After training as a sound editor, Antoine Aubry worked on several films for cinema and television as a music writer and editor. Over time, image editing has taken its place within this sound territory. Sound and moving images mingle in a joyous exercise in assembling time, movement and colour, and it is with great pleasure that he now seizes the opportunity to produce soundtracks for live performance.
