Festival Tweetakt is an annual arts festival in Utrecht for everyone, with theater, music and art by (inter)national creators.
A dazzling and abrasive show about online life and real life. #loveit
The third-year students of the HKU acting school are creating a montage show about online life with theatre director Sanne Vogel. A show about a flawless world where everyone is happy all the time, no-one ever has a bad hair day, where it never rains, people eat dainty rose-coloured acai-berry pastries and are on holiday all year round.
But how does it affect young people to be confronted all day with the perfect make-believe worlds of Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat? How happy are you when your happiness depends on likes? #SCHIJN is a dazzling and abrasive show about attention, fitboys, fitgirls, influencers, followers, but most of all about people, which is what we ultimately all are, even when nobody sends us likes.
The HKU acting school is a University of the Arts course that trains students to become professional stage, television and film actors. The HKU has made shows especially for Tweetakt for more than 15 years. Every year the third-years of the acting school are supported by a professional directr. This year it will be Sanne Vogel.
The multitalented Sanne Vogel (1984) has been working as an actress, writer and director in theatre, film and television since she was 16. As a young actress she formed De Vogelfabriek company with her brother Robin Vogel, which for many years made shows for the Parade Festival. Sanne also performed in productions by Huis aan de Werf, Growing up in Public, and De Utrechtse Spelen. For Tweetakt she created Rebel in 2003 and Sneeuwwitje en de zeven caravans in 2004. Last year, she and two Syrian refugees who were living in her house made the show Nieuwe Familie. In 2014 the movie Hartenstraat appeared, Sanne’s debut as a feature film director.
