Festival Tweetakt is an annual arts festival in Utrecht for everyone, with theater, music and art by (inter)national creators.
A dream world of a 75-year-old woman trying to flee old age, with a hint of opera
Rita is a single, elderly woman with a great sense of drama. With her love for opera, she tries to escape the daily grind and her old age. She gets lost in a crazy labyrinth where fiction and reality can no longer be distinguished from each other. Like a rebel, she lets the naughty child inside her run free. And when she notices that her living room is literally the stage, all hell breaks loose.
“Genius, so much wordless rebellion.” – Het Nieuwsblad ****
“They are characters who try to find a balance in themselves and between each other. Decent, funny, and occasionally hilarious.” – Theaterkrant
Randi De Vlieghe and Jef Van Gestel were at Festival Tweetakt in 2015 with the bizarre and successful Voetbal op Hoge Hakken, for which they received the VSCD Mime Award. Rita, one of the characters from that performance, now gets a second life in this new performance.
Both Randi and Jef have appeared on Tweetakt in many roles. For example, Randi was seen last year as an actor in INUK and Ola Pola Potloodgat and he was previously a choreographer for POPCORN (2017) and ZOO doen ze de dingen (2016). Jef was last year as dramaturge involved in the performance Synchroon, as director and choreographer at Bonte Nacht (2017) and as an actor with De Liegenaar (2016).
Tuning People is a self-willed Antwerp collective of designer and sound developer Wannes Deneer, theater maker and actor Jef Van frame and choreographer and dancer Karolien Verlinden. BRONKS is a platform for artists to translate modern-day and daring themes into a young audience.
