Festival Tweetakt is an annual arts festival in Utrecht for everyone, with theater, music and art by (inter)national creators.
A funny and warm, surreal and playful show by three performers and lots of paper and cardboard.
Three lonely figures in a carboard world. They seem to be looking for something. A friend? A roof? A home? Is a man without a house the same as a homeless man? As they build, the three slowly come to grips with the space and each other.
What can you do with cardboard boxes, a great big blanket of newspaper, two walls and some good music? Lots! Using a minimum of means the three performers magically create an innovative world full of little adventures. Without telling a straight story they broach a big subject for a small audience: feeling alone, playing together, hiding together. Too bad you can’t buy a ticket for just the edge of your seat…
“nesten is no glittering spectacle show, but a modest exploration. (…) The game they play with boxes and bodies hides an endearing layer of people looking for protection. So sweet, and so much fun and laughter, too. Recommended for older children and grownups too. ” – Theaterkrant
Anna Bentivegna and Zoë Demoustier danced in several fABULEUS-productions and then joined Ayrton Fraenk as students at the Mime School at the Amsterdam Academy of Theatre & Dance. nesten was their graduation show and their first joint production, which they have continued to develop at fABULEUS (where everything started for them). Joining them for the final stages was director Jef Van gestel who has made countless weird and well-received productions for children and toddlers, such as Tape voor kleuters and Leeghoofd with Tuning People and fABULEUS. He is also at this year’s Tweetakt performing in the show Rita.
fABULEUS often comes to Tweetakt to present numerous shows. In 2018 they were here with SNAP XL and Het puin van Eden, and this year they are presenting PASSING THE BECHDEL TEST and Paradise Now (1968-2018).
