Festival Tweetakt is an annual arts festival in Utrecht for everyone, with theater, music and art by (inter)national creators.
This rough-and-tumble toy band made of paper, tape, wire and paint is guaranteed to bring the house down.
Frankie is a real band with a frontman, piercing guitars and tight-ass drums. But made of tape and paper. Laguna Beach is their universe. Frankie’s world is messy and imperfect, but also funny and moving. Onstage, the interaction between live music and mechanical installations creates an ever-expanding scene, featuring guitars, noise, screeching and creaking, lousy dolls, fish wire and wood. From epic fail to tropical idyll: Laguna Beach is completely disarming in its cheerful naivety.
Frankie is Simon Lynen, Vincent Lynen, Brecht Hayen, Jef Staut and Timo Fannoy. The group is bringing together sound and image in a series of installations that are halfway between a performance and a concert. Video, tv, live music or animation – no matter which medium they use, nonchalance comes hand in hand with ambiance and the two sneak resolutely onto the stage. Last year this rough-and-tumble toy band made of paper, tape, wire and paint brought the house down inside the Minitheater on the Festival square. Next stop Theater Kikker.
