Roxeanne Hazes broke through last year with her Edison-winning debut album In My Blood, though her career already covers a versatile decade. Ten years in which she, with hundreds of performances and concerts, delighted the Netherlands and Belgium with her father’s music: the legendary Dutch singer André Hazes. Three years ago, ‘Daughter Dre’ started writing her own music. “I noticed that it started to itch. That I needed a new creative outlet in which I can express my ideas, feelings and creativity. My father’s music is and will always be the basis, and with my own music I can now show a different side.”
She searched for her own sound under the label Top Notch. “Levenslied” in a poppy jacket, serious lyrics that Rox sings with her heavy voice. Since the release of her debut album, it has gone fast: a lot of media attention, millions of streams and views, being the home band from De Wereld Draait Door, receiving an MTV Best Dutch Act nomination and playing shows all over the country. Halfway through 2018, Roxeanne welcomed her son Fender, which made her play less live shows, but after her maternity leave she immediately re-entered the stage.
