The six-piece band Nusantara Beat was founded in Amsterdam by a group of musicians who feel connected to their Indonesian roots and culture. The band members also take their experience from other Dutch bands, such as Jungle By Night, Pom, EUT, The Mysterons, Maple and Surf Aid Kit into their songs. For example, their songs are in a gray zone between traditional Indonesian music from the 20th century and contemporary (pop) music. Nusantara Beat pays tribute to Indonesian music’s rich and diverse tradition.
