A drummer, a juggler and five wooden triangles with a mind of their own
While Frederik Meulyzer is drumming, juggler Stijn Grupping rythmically makes several bouncing balls dance between wooden triangles. This goes well, until the triangles come to life.
The rowdier the triangles become, the more challenging it is for the juggler to keep them all up in the air. It takes enormous dexterity and speed to throw the balls to the dictated rhythm and get them in the right spot at the right time so that the composition is just right.
Steadily, objects and performers become equals. Each is needed to bring the whole thing together, but this also means that each could upset the balance at any moment.
Review
“What starts as a light and amusing muscle-flexing for all ages, turns into an entertaining and moving multi-media time lapse of the battle between man and technology. (…) Post uit Hessdalen’s performance “by man and robot, for man and robot aged 6 and over” is certainly refreshing.” – UUR KULTUUR
About the makers
Post uit Hessdalen is a revolving music theatre company. Its artistic core is formed by cinematographer/ circus artist Stijn Grupping and theatre maker Ine Van Baelen, who involve other artists with each new creation. Like in festival hit PAKMAN, musician Frederik Meulyzer is once again the perfect musical sounding board for juggler Stijn Grupping.
